COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Games Development at UL is a structured program that combines computer science foundations with specialised training in game design and interactive media. In Year 1, students study core topics such as programming, software development, computer science fundamentals, discrete mathematics, system organisation, and representation and modelling, alongside introductory game modelling and design. Year 2 builds on these foundations with more advanced subjects including object-oriented development, operating systems, databases, data structures and algorithms, artificial intelligence for games, computer graphics, software testing, and statistics for computing. In Year 3, students gain practical industry experience through cooperative education placements while also studying applied areas such as digital modelling and animation, virtual and augmented reality design, mobile application development, games for global markets, and machine learning applications. Year 4 focuses on advanced computing and game development topics, including advanced programming, software architecture, computer graphics tools and techniques, neural computing, data mining, and software design theory. A major component of the final year is the Computer Games Development project, completed across two semesters. The program equips students with both technical programming skills and creative design abilities, preparing them for careers in game development, interactive media, simulation, and other digital entertainment industries where innovation and technology combine.
