COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Education in Mathematics and Computer Science is a four-year program designed to combine strong subject knowledge with professional teaching skills. In the first year, students build foundational understanding in education through modules such as contemporary educational theory and psychology of learning, alongside core subjects like programming, software development, algebra, discrete mathematics, and calculus. In the second year, the focus shifts toward teaching practice with modules on planning for learning, classroom practices, and subject pedagogy in both mathematics and computer science, supported by an initial school placement. Students also continue developing technical expertise in object-oriented programming, database systems, and linear algebra. The third year deepens both academic and professional learning through modules in curriculum studies, inclusion, and social justice, combined with advanced computing topics such as web development, data structures, algorithms, software testing, statistics, and geometry, alongside further pedagogy training. In the final year, students undertake a second school placement and study professional teaching practice while completing advanced topics including computer graphics, algebraic structures, multivariable calculus, and differential equations, preparing them for careers in education or related fields.
