COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Engineering Honours in Mechanical Engineering at UL is a comprehensive program that equips students with strong foundations in mathematics, physics, and engineering science while preparing them for diverse careers in industries such as energy, manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, and design. In Year 1, students study core subjects including engineering mathematics, mechanics, computing, materials, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, electrical engineering, and introductory design and manufacturing. Year 2 focuses on more advanced engineering principles such as applied mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, instrumentation and control, mechanics of solids, industrial organisation, and engineering communication, alongside a cooperative education placement that provides real industry experience. In Year 3, students deepen their technical knowledge through modules in vibration analysis, heat transfer, thermodynamics, mechanics of solids, and advanced mathematics, supported by another placement and project-based learning. In Year 4, students specialise further through either a Bachelor or Master pathway, studying advanced topics such as finite element analysis, process control, energy management, mechanical design, and project planning. Elective options include areas like renewable energy, advanced materials, composites, and energy conversion technologies. Overall, the program combines theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and industry experience to develop highly skilled mechanical engineers capable of solving complex engineering problems and contributing to modern technological development.
