COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Engineering Honours in Electrical Engineering at UL is a structured four-year program designed to build strong technical, analytical, and practical engineering skills. In Year 1, students are introduced to core engineering foundations including electrical engineering principles, circuit analysis, semiconductor devices, digital systems, engineering mathematics, computing, chemistry for engineers, and introductory engineering science. Year 2 develops these foundations further with more advanced study in electrical energy systems, control systems, active circuit design, digital systems, and professional engineering practice, alongside continued mathematical development. Between Year 2 and Year 3, students complete a cooperative education placement, gaining real-world industry experience, and begin selecting their specialist focus. Year 3 includes advanced topics such as energy demand management, signals and systems, robotics, data security, and control systems, combining theoretical knowledge with applied engineering challenges. In Year 4, students study higher-level modules including power electronics, modern electrical power systems, digital control, electrical automation, machine learning applications, energy storage, and thermal physics, alongside a substantial engineering project across both semesters. The program integrates academic learning with practical experience to prepare graduates for careers in electrical engineering sectors such as energy, automation, telecommunications, and smart systems, while also providing a pathway toward further study or professional engineering accreditation.
