COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Engineering in Digital Mechatronic Engineering is a forward-looking program that blends core engineering principles with advanced digital technologies. In the first year, students are introduced to fundamental subjects such as engineering mathematics, mechanics, electrical engineering, computing, materials, chemistry, and fluid mechanics. Students also select an elective in either digital mechatronics, structural engineering design, or design for manufacturing to begin focusing their interests.From the second year onwards, the curriculum becomes more specialised, with courses in computer software, control systems, plant automation, solid mechanics, communications networking, and digital systems. Students also begin developing practical skills through cooperative education, where they engage in real-world industry placements, gaining critical experience and professional development. An extended co-op option spanning 12–13 months is available and includes modules in LEAN tools, quality management, machine learning, and portfolio development. Alternatively, students may choose the standard co-op route, followed by coursework in product design, automation, communication protocols, and robotics.In the final year, students dive deeper into advanced topics such as spatial robotics, machine vision, simulation modelling, AI, and engineering design. They also prepare and complete a capstone Master of Engineering project. Two specialist streams are offered—Digital Robotic Engineering and Digital Manufacturing Engineering—allowing students to tailor their studies toward robotics and control systems or manufacturing technologies. This structured and flexible program equips graduates with the interdisciplinary skills and industry experience required to thrive in modern engineering roles involving robotics, automation, AI, and mechatronics.
