COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Education in Graphics, Engineering and Technology is structured over four years to combine technical knowledge with professional teacher training. In Year 1, students build a strong foundation in design and communication graphics, process technology, design and technology, materials, electro technology, and technological mathematics, alongside introductory education modules focusing on digital competence, educational theory, and learning psychology. Year 2 develops both subject expertise and teaching skills through advanced graphics and process technology modules, as well as studies in classroom practice, subject pedagogy, and planning for learning, with a school placement providing practical teaching experience. In Year 3, students further deepen their technical knowledge in design, process technology, and physics, while also engaging with curriculum and assessment, diversity, inclusion, and social justice in education, alongside advanced subject pedagogy. Year 4 focuses on professional preparation, including a second school placement, advanced modules in graphics, manufacturing systems, and electronics, as well as research-focused learning through the technology teacher as researcher module and studies on professional practice. Overall, the program integrates technical subject mastery with educational theory and real classroom experience, equipping graduates with the skills and qualifications required to teach engineering, graphics, and technology subjects effectively at secondary level.
