COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA in Voice program is structured over four years to progressively develop students’ vocal performance, musicianship, and academic understanding. In Year 1, students build foundational skills through one-to-one vocal training, sight singing, conducting, and theory, alongside ensemble work in practicum modules and academic studies exploring Irish, world, popular, and Western art music traditions. Year 2 advances these skills with more intensive performance training, ensemble collaboration, and specialised modules such as voice studies, vocal pedagogy, and performing arts technology, which introduce both theoretical perspectives and practical industry tools. Year 3 includes a cooperative education placement, giving students valuable real-world experience in areas like performance, education, or media, followed by further development in performance, research skills, and modules examining arts in health contexts. In Year 4, students focus on advanced performance, professional preparation, and independent research through a final year project completed across two semesters, supported by modules on professional skills and performance planning. Throughout the program, students can choose from a wide range of electives in music, dance, and other disciplines, allowing them to broaden their artistic and academic experience. Overall, the course combines practical training, academic study, and professional development to prepare graduates for diverse careers in the performing arts and related fields.
