COURSE CURRICULUM

The Psychology and Sociology course is a four-year degree that provides students with a strong foundation in psychological and sociological theory, research, and practical application. In Year 1, students are introduced to key areas such as psychological theory and methods, everyday psychology, practical psychology, sociology, and research methods. Semester 2 builds on this with a focus on social issues, gender perspectives, and continued exploration of theory and practical skills. In Year 2, the course delves deeper into specialized topics including the biological basis of behavior, personality, social psychology, and media sociology, along with training in empirical research. The second semester of Year 2 is dedicated to cooperative placements, giving students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in real-world settings.Year 3 includes an academic exchange program, followed by advanced modules in human development, cognition, and contemporary sociological theory, as well as further development of research skills. Empirical Psychology continues to be a focus, preparing students for their final year research project. In Year 4, students undertake a substantial final year project across two semesters, supported by modules in advanced and qualitative research methods. The program also offers a range of optional modules in areas such as applied psychology, abnormal and clinical psychology, economic psychology, personality, sociology of work, health, youth, welfare, love, identity, globalization, and exclusion. These electives allow students to tailor their learning to their interests and career aspirations.By integrating both disciplines throughout the degree, students gain a comprehensive understanding of how individual behavior and societal structures influence one another. The course prepares graduates for a range of careers in psychology, social research, policy development, and related fields, or for further study at the postgraduate level.
