COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA in Law and Accounting is a four-year joint honours degree that provides students with a comprehensive education in both legal and financial disciplines. In Year 1, students build foundational knowledge with modules such as Principles of Accounting, Microeconomics, and core law subjects including Legal System and Method, Contract Law, and Criminal Law. The second semester deepens this understanding with Managerial Accounting, Macroeconomics, and Applied Statistics, alongside advanced studies in Contract and Criminal Law.In Year 2, the curriculum expands to include Finance, Capital Taxation, and key legal subjects such as the Law of the European Union, Constitutional Law, and the Law of Torts. The summer term includes modules on Accounting and Auditing Frameworks and Financial Accounting and Reporting. This year ensures students develop a strong grasp of financial systems and public law structures.Year 3 introduces advanced financial modules like Financial Information Analysis and Corporate Finance, while continuing legal education with Land Law and Commercial Law. A significant feature of this year is the Cooperative Education placement in Semester 6, which provides valuable real-world professional experience.In the final year, students tailor their learning by selecting from a variety of advanced modules in both fields. Options include Advanced Financial Reporting, Management Accounting, Taxation for Corporates, Equity and Trusts, and Company Law. In addition, students undertake a capstone project over two semesters, allowing them to apply their skills in a practical research or business context. The final semester also includes modules on International Tax and Corporate Transparency and Business Ethics.This integrated program ensures graduates are equipped with a unique blend of legal and accounting expertise, opening up diverse career opportunities in law, accounting, corporate governance, finance, and beyond.
