COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts in International Business at University of Limerick is structured over four years with a flexible, interdisciplinary curriculum. In the first year, students build a foundation in international business alongside core business subjects such as accounting, economics, management, marketing, and organisational behaviour, while also choosing electives in law, politics, sociology, history, and business languages like French, German, Japanese, or Spanish. The second year deepens this knowledge with more advanced topics including finance, human resource management, international management, business mathematics, and statistics, while continuing optional studies in social sciences and languages. The third year is a key component of the program, consisting entirely of international experience through an academic placement and a work placement abroad, allowing students to gain global exposure and practical skills. In the fourth year, students return to complete advanced modules in international business along with specialised electives such as strategic management, taxation, marketing, finance, and human resource strategy, as well as optional language studies. Students also complete confirmation papers that demonstrate their academic development. Overall, the program combines theoretical learning with international experience, equipping graduates with strong analytical, professional, and cross-cultural skills for global business careers.
