COURSE CURRICULUM

The LM002 Bachelor of Arts in Economics at the University of Limerick is structured over four years, combining theoretical learning, practical skills, and international experience. In the first year, students build a foundation in economics through modules in microeconomics and macroeconomics, gaining an understanding of how individuals, firms, and economies operate. In the second year, the focus shifts to more advanced topics such as intermediate economics and quantitative methods, which develop analytical and statistical skills essential for economic analysis. This year also includes a cooperative education work placement, giving students valuable real-world experience. In the third year, students participate in an Erasmus or exchange program with a partner institution abroad, enhancing their global perspective and academic exposure. During this stage, they also study subjects like international economics and applied economic analysis, which deepen their understanding of global markets and practical applications of economic theory. In the final year, students explore specialised areas including industrial economics, public finance, the European economy, and contemporary global economic issues.
