COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Medical Physics offers a comprehensive and interdisciplinary curriculum designed to prepare students for careers in clinical medical physics or research. The program is accredited by CAMPEP and includes a structured set of core modules across three trimesters, providing both theoretical and practical training. In the Autumn trimester, students develop foundational knowledge through modules such as Radiological Physics, Detectors and Dosimetry, Medical Imaging Physics I, Radiation Oncology Physics I, Radiation Protection & Safety, and Physics Data Analysis using Python. Students also take Anatomy and Medical Sciences for Biomedical Engineering to ensure a solid understanding of human biology. The Spring trimester builds on this foundation with advanced modules including Medical Imaging Physics II, Radiation Oncology Physics II, Radiobiology & Ethics, and Advanced Cross-Sectional Anatomy. These modules deepen students’ understanding of imaging technologies, cancer therapy, and ethical considerations in clinical practice. Data analysis skills are further developed through the Data Science in Python module, offered in both Autumn and Spring. In the Summer trimester, students undertake a 30-credit Medical Physics Research Project, which allows them to apply their knowledge to a focused area of interest, either in clinical application or academic research. This project also provides hands-on experience with real-world problems in medical physics, fostering analytical and critical thinking skills. The program combines rigorous academic learning with practical skills in data science, imaging technologies, and radiation therapy, equipping graduates to contribute to medical innovation and patient care. With a growing global demand for trained medical physicists, graduates are well-positioned to pursue roles in hospitals, regulatory bodies, or continue into PhD-level research.
