COURSE CURRICULUM

Sustainability with Business & Economics is one of the three degree majors available through the common entry Sustainability course. Students begin with a shared first year that introduces core sustainability principles and provides foundational learning across environmental science, business, and economics. At the end of first year, students select their preferred major, with guaranteed progression into that major provided academic requirements are met. The program blends interdisciplinary learning with practical application and prepares students to understand, analyse, and lead sustainability efforts within economic and business contexts. In first year, modules include Introduction to Sustainability, Sustainability Challenges, Mapping a Sustainable World, Business in Society, Environmental Change and Policy, Economics, and Practical Statistics. Second year builds on this foundation with more discipline-specific learning, including modules such as Sustainability Research Tools, Introduction to Quantitative Economics, Principles of Microeconomics, Marketing, Foundations of Finance, and GIS for Sustainability. In third year, students take part in a field course titled Sustainability in Action and have the opportunity for an international exchange or a substantial internship. Modules in this year include Economics of the Environment, Sustainable Operations & Supply Chain Management, Business Across Borders, and Consulting with NGOs. In the final year, students deepen their engagement through an interdisciplinary project, a professional internship, and advanced modules such as Climate Change Economics, Business & Sustainability, and Leadership & Change Management. Throughout the program, students combine theory and hands-on experience to develop the knowledge and skills needed to implement sustainability in real-world business and economic contexts. The course prepares graduates for a range of careers in corporate sustainability, public policy, consultancy, non-profits, and other sectors where sustainable economic and business practices are a priority. This degree fosters critical thinking, leadership, and innovation to address some of the most pressing global challenges of our time.
