COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Commerce (BComm) degree offers a comprehensive and flexible curriculum that builds a strong foundation in business during the first two years and allows for personalisation and specialisation in the final year. In first year, students are introduced to the core disciplines of business through a range of modules including Accounting, Management, Maths for Business, Microeconomics for Business, Data Analysis, Digital Technologies, Business Law, Business in Society, Business Management Simulation, and Inside Organisations. These modules are designed to develop analytical, technical, and communication skills, and are delivered through varied assessments such as case studies, presentations, and simulations that reflect real business challenges.In second year, students deepen their knowledge in key areas with modules such as Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Business Analytics, Global Business, Sustainable Operations and Supply Chain Management, Digital Society, and Macroeconomics for Business, alongside a selection of business option modules. This year also offers the opportunity to participate in the Business Mentoring program, which connects students with experienced professionals from the UCD alumni network for personalised guidance and industry insights.In the final year, students have the flexibility to tailor their studies by choosing from over 60 optional business modules. This allows students to specialise in a particular area of interest—such as finance, marketing, entrepreneurship, or sustainability—or continue exploring a broad range of topics. Examples of optional modules include An Introduction to Cryptocurrencies, Sustainable Finance, Global Marketing, and Entrepreneurship in Action. This flexibility ensures that students graduate with both a broad understanding of business and the opportunity to develop expertise in areas aligned with their career aspirations.Overall, the BComm curriculum balances academic theory with practical application, preparing students for dynamic careers in business while also offering opportunities for personal and professional growth through mentorship and industry engagement.
