COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year of the Law with Economics degree, students focus on core law subjects such as Constitutional Law, Contract Law, and Tort Law, alongside foundational economics modules including Mathematics for Business, Microeconomics, and Macroeconomics. This combination provides a strong base in both legal principles and economic theory. During the second year, the curriculum expands to include EU Economic Law, Statistics for Economists, Property Law, and Criminal Liability. This year deepens students' understanding of law while also enhancing their skills in economics and statistics, equipping them for more advanced study.In the third and fourth years, students encounter core modules like Intermediate Macroeconomics and Econometrics. They also benefit from a wide range of optional modules that allow them to tailor their studies to their interests. These options include specialized law subjects such as Revenue Law, Intellectual Property Law, Trusts Law, Employment Law, and Competition Law in Practice. On the economics side, students can explore International Monetary Economics, Game Theory, Economics of Gender and Diversity, Health Economics and Policy, International Trade Economics, and Developmental Economics. This flexibility helps students build expertise in areas where law and economics intersect.The course combines lectures, tutorials, and independent study, with assessments including end-of-trimester exams, essays, and group projects. Additionally, there is an internship module available in the spring trimester of the third year. This credit-bearing internship provides valuable real-world experience within a range of partner organisations and serves as an alternative to international study. Overall, the program offers a rigorous and comprehensive education, preparing students for careers that require both legal knowledge and economic insight.
