COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Human Resource Management (HRM) program is divided into two parts, combining academic depth with practical application. Part I consists of 60 credits of taught modules designed to build a strong foundation in HRM theory and practice. It begins with modules such as applied research methods and business case for analytics, which develop the analytical and research skills needed in HR decision-making. Modules like HRM in a global context and managing the employment relationship provide an understanding of HR functions in both international and domestic settings. Talent management and development focuses on identifying and nurturing talent, while managing human resources strategically equips students with the skills to align HR strategy with broader business goals.Other modules include psychology at work, creating healthy workplaces, and leadership and management development. These provide insights into employee behaviour, wellbeing, and effective leadership in modern workplaces. The module on developing skills for business leadership focuses on enhancing personal and professional effectiveness. Overall, these modules are taught by a mix of experienced academics and HR professionals, offering both theoretical knowledge and real-world insights.Part II is a 30-credit applied research project. In this final stage, students conduct independent research on a real HR issue, applying what they have learned throughout the course. This project enables students to demonstrate their ability to critically examine a workplace challenge and propose practical solutions grounded in evidence and theory. It also serves as a capstone to the program, showcasing their readiness to contribute meaningfully to the HR profession. The program is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD), ensuring that graduates meet recognised professional standards in HR and are well-prepared for a successful career in the field, both in Ireland and internationally.
