COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc in Business Information Systems is a four-year program that combines business knowledge with technological skills to prepare students for dynamic roles in the IT and information systems sectors. In Year 1, students are introduced to core business and IT concepts. Modules such as Information Systems in Global Organisations, Business Systems Analysis and Design, Web Development, Foundations of Programming, Accounting, Economics, and Business Statistics provide a strong academic foundation. Electives in Management and Marketing allow students to explore broader business areas. Year 2 builds on these foundations with more advanced content. Students deepen their understanding of systems analysis, database design, intermediate programming, and design thinking. Modules in microeconomics and management accounting continue to develop their financial and analytical skills. Electives include options in food supply chain, enterprise planning, ethics, governance, and market research.Year 3 is focused on practical application. After academic modules in Networking and Cloud Computing, DevOps, Data Visualisation, and Advanced Programming, students undertake a six-month paid internship, gaining valuable real-world experience and industry connections. The academic component is shorter, concluding with exams in February to allow for full-time placement in a professional environment.In Year 4, students complete a major research project and study advanced topics such as Information Systems Strategy, Management, Innovation, and Global IT Trends. Personal development continues through a final module in ethics and professionalism. A wide range of electives allows students to tailor their learning to areas of interest, including Cybersecurity, Digital Strategy, UX Design, Project Management, Mobile App Development, Enterprise Sales, and Organisational Change. This final year strengthens strategic thinking and leadership skills while preparing students for global business environments. The program's balance of theory, technical skill, and real-world experience ensures graduates are well-equipped for successful careers in information systems, consultancy, business analysis, and technology management.
