COURSE CURRICULUM

The M.Sc. in Zero Carbon Technologies is structured as a 90 ECTS program combining 60 ECTS of taught modules with a 30 ECTS research project and dissertation. It can be completed full-time in one year or part-time over two to three years, with flexible exit options including a Postgraduate Diploma or Certificate based on completed taught credits. The curriculum focuses on key areas of mechanical engineering related to sustainability and low-carbon solutions. Core modules include zero-carbon technology, research methods, low-carbon transport and power technologies, geo-resources and carbon impact, as well as renewable energy topics such as wind and solar energy. Students also study energy policy and building energy demand, gaining a broad understanding of environmental and technological challenges. In addition to mandatory modules, students can select optional subjects such as advanced thermal fluid sciences, control engineering, computational fluid mechanics, deep learning, and supply chain management, allowing for specialisation based on career goals. The research project enables students to apply their knowledge to real-world engineering problems. Graduates are expected to be in strong demand across industries, including multinational companies, startups, and research organisations, particularly in roles related to sustainable technology development, energy systems, and innovation in low-carbon engineering solutions.
