COURSE CURRICULUM

The M.Sc. in Health Policy and Management requires students to complete seven compulsory modules alongside research methods training and a dissertation, resulting in a 12,000-word research project. The program focuses on developing core competencies in understanding and improving health systems through evidence-informed policy, management, and organisational change. Key modules include Population Health Management, Health Policy, Comparative Health Systems, Health Economics, Knowledge Translation and Implementation, Managing People and Change, and Integrated Care Systems. Together, these modules provide a strong foundation for analysing how health systems function and how they can be improved through policy reform, leadership, and innovation. A central theme throughout the course is the translation of research evidence into practical policy and healthcare improvements. The Research Methods and Dissertation module (30 ECTS) allows students to undertake an independent research project with both academic and applied relevance, emphasising how findings can inform real-world health policy and practice. The program can be completed in one year full-time or over two years part-time, with a structured progression of taught modules and research training. In the part-time route, students complete the majority of taught modules in the first year and finish remaining coursework alongside the dissertation in the second year. Overall, the course prepares graduates for leadership roles in health systems and policy development.
