COURSE CURRICULUM

The M.Sc. in Global Health is a full-time, one-year program delivered at Trinity College Dublin, designed to provide 90 ECTS credits through a combination of taught modules and a dissertation. The program is structured across three terms, with the first two terms dedicated to taught coursework worth 60 ECTS and the final term focused on an independent research dissertation worth 30 ECTS. The curriculum is regularly updated to reflect evolving global health priorities and policy needs, ensuring relevance to current international challenges. Recent modules have covered a wide range of topics, including conceptualisations of global health, health economics and finance, epidemiology, and quantitative research methods using tools such as SPSS. Students also study mental and cognitive health from a global perspective, health impacts of environment and climate change, sexual and reproductive health, and the relationships between culture, health, and illness. This structure allows students to build both theoretical understanding and practical analytical skills needed to address complex global health issues. By combining interdisciplinary teaching with research training, the program prepares graduates to critically engage with health challenges affecting populations worldwide and to contribute to evidence-based policy, research, and practice in global health settings.
