COURSE CURRICULUM

The M.Sc. in Entrepreneurship of Smart Medicines is a full-time one-year program worth 90 ECTS credits, combining taught modules with a substantial research project. The curriculum is structured across several thematic areas that integrate life sciences with entrepreneurship and commercialisation. Students begin with cellular-focused modules such as Biology for the Entrepreneur and Scientific Transformation of an Entrepreneur, which provide foundational scientific understanding tailored for non-biologists. This is followed by disease-focused modules that examine disease indications and market considerations from both scientific and commercial perspectives. A significant portion of the program is dedicated to drug development, covering experimental approaches, traditional large pharmaceutical processes, biopharmaceuticals, and clinical development pathways. Students also study pharmaceutical commercialisation through enterprise development modules, which include start-up creation, intellectual property management, leadership, licensing, mergers, and valuation strategies. In addition, students complete a literature review module that supports academic research skills. The program culminates in a 30 ECTS research project, allowing students to apply their knowledge to a focused area of investigation. Delivered at Trinity College Dublin, the course equips graduates with interdisciplinary skills in science, business, and innovation, preparing them for careers in biotech entrepreneurship, pharmaceutical development, and related industries.
