COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Biomedical Sciences (Intercalated) program offers a range of specialised tracks, each combining taught modules with a significant research project to provide both theoretical knowledge and practical expertise. In Molecular Medicine, students complete core modules in research skills, molecular mechanisms of disease, and a dissertation, while selecting additional modules in areas such as genetics, immunology, diagnostics, and oncology to reach the required credits. The Translational Oncology track includes a comprehensive set of compulsory modules covering cancer biology, treatment strategies, clinical trials, ethics, and research skills, alongside optional modules that allow further specialisation, all complemented by a research project. In Neuroscience, students study topics ranging from neuropharmacology and neuroimmunology to neural engineering and imaging, supported by experimental research training and a final project. The Healthcare Infection pathway focuses on microbiology, antimicrobial resistance, epidemiology, and infection management, integrating multidisciplinary perspectives with a research component. The Immunology track covers fundamental and clinical immunology, immunogenetics, infectious diseases, and emerging therapies, alongside communication and analytical skills, culminating in a research project. Across all pathways, the program emphasises developing scientific understanding, laboratory competence, and research capability, preparing students for careers in biomedical research, clinical practice, or further academic study.
