COURSE CURRICULUM

The M.Sc. in Biodiversity and Conservation offers a well-rounded curriculum that combines theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and research experience to prepare students for careers in environmental science and conservation. The theoretical modules introduce key concepts such as biodiversity, conservation biology, environmental assessment, human interactions with ecosystems, and the impacts of environmental change on species and habitats. These modules provide a strong scientific foundation for understanding current environmental challenges. Alongside this, students develop essential practical skills through modules focused on data handling and analysis, taxonomy, and hands-on conservation techniques, as well as an overseas field course that provides real-world experience in diverse ecological settings. The program also includes project-based learning, where students undertake an individual desk study, learn project planning techniques, and complete an individual research project. After successfully finishing the taught component, students move on to a closely supervised research project lasting approximately three months. This final stage allows them to apply the knowledge and skills gained throughout the course to a specific research question, further enhancing their analytical, investigative, and problem-solving abilities while preparing them for professional roles or further academic research in biodiversity and conservation.
