COURSE CURRICULUM

The M.Phil. in Music and Media Technologies is a flexible program that can be completed full-time in one year or part-time over two years, with a total value of 90 ECTS credits. The course is structured across three semesters, with the first two semesters forming a Postgraduate Diploma worth 60 ECTS, followed by a third semester focused on research for the full master’s qualification. The initial semesters provide students with essential skills in music, audio, video, and computational technologies, enabling them to engage in areas such as audio-visual composition, sound design, and media production. In the first semester, students study core modules in acoustics and audio perception, along with research methods, and select additional electives such as creative coding, sonic arts, audio engineering, and digital signal processing. The second semester offers further specialised electives, including audio production techniques, interactive systems, spatial audio, and visual music. The final semester is research-oriented and requires students to complete a substantial research project and written thesis. Throughout the program, there is a strong emphasis on both technical knowledge and artistic creativity, encouraging students to develop innovative work that combines music and media technologies. Overall, the course prepares graduates for careers in music production, multimedia design, and technology-driven creative industries.
