COURSE CURRICULUM

The M.Phil. program in Middle East in a Global Context is structured as a flexible postgraduate qualification worth 90 ECTS credits, designed to accommodate both full-time and part-time study options. Students may complete the full master’s degree over one year of full-time study or extend it over two to three years through part-time study, completing between 30 and 60 ECTS per year depending on their chosen pace. In addition to the full master’s award, a Postgraduate Certificate option is available, requiring 30 ECTS and typically completed within one year. The full M.Phil. pathway consists of four core modules and two optional modules, allowing students to build a strong foundation in Middle Eastern studies while also tailoring part of their learning to specific interests. The program is designed to integrate academic learning with applied research skills, ensuring that students progressively develop both subject knowledge and analytical abilities. A significant component of the degree is the research project, which is worth 30 ECTS and allows students to apply the knowledge and skills gained throughout the taught modules to an independent academic study. This structure supports a balanced development of theoretical understanding and practical research competence, preparing graduates for advanced academic work, professional roles, or further doctoral study in related fields.
