COURSE CURRICULUM

The M.Phil. in Digital Humanities and Culture is a 90 ECTS program that can be completed either full-time in one year or part-time over two to three years, offering flexibility in study pace. The course structure combines taught modules with independent research, ensuring both theoretical understanding and practical skill development. Students complete four core modules worth 40 ECTS, including two theory-focused modules that explore key concepts and frameworks in digital humanities, and two practice-oriented modules that involve building digital projects and gaining experience in project management and internships. In addition, students take two to three optional modules worth 20 ECTS, selected from a range of disciplines across the university. While not mandatory, students are strongly encouraged to choose Programming for the Humanities 1 to develop foundational computational thinking skills, even without prior coding experience. The final component of the program is a 30 ECTS dissertation, typically 15,000 to 20,000 words in length, where students apply their knowledge to a research topic of their choice. Throughout this process, students receive supervision from subject experts, supporting the development of independent research, critical analysis, and technical competence relevant to careers in digital humanities and related fields.
