COURSE CURRICULUM

This 24-week Foundation Diploma in Acting and Theatre is an intensive full-time program designed to build practical performance skills and prepare students for further training or careers in theatre, television, and film. The course ends with an intensive week of rehearsals and project-based work, giving students valuable performance experience. Classes run Monday to Friday, with six hours of contact time each day, creating a structured and immersive learning environment. Teaching is delivered by the regular staff of The Lir Academy, who provide professional-level guidance and support throughout the program. Students study a wide range of subjects, including core techniques in acting, voice, and movement, which help develop strong performance foundations. The course also includes individual tutorials with a dedicated Foundation Course Coordinator, offering personalised feedback and support. Project-based work focuses on both classical and contemporary theatre, often leading to week-long intensive rehearsal periods. Students also explore improvisation, physical theatre, text analysis, sight reading, and choral singing. Additional training includes acting for screen, solo Shakespeare performance, Shakespearean scenes, and theatre history. Audition techniques and professional development classes help students prepare for acting careers as well as non-acting roles in theatre, TV, and film. Overall, the course offers comprehensive practical and creative training in a professional conservatoire-style environment.
