COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy program is structured over four years, combining academic study with practical clinical experience. In the first and second years, students typically have around 20 hours of weekly teaching through lectures and practical classes. Core subjects include physiology, anatomy, physics, chemistry, pathology, and exercise science, providing a strong scientific foundation. Students also begin learning about common physiotherapy conditions and specialties such as respiratory and musculoskeletal disorders. Clinical placements start at the end of the second year, where students gain supervised experience in hospitals, clinics, day centres, and community or private practice settings. In the third year, the program is divided equally between academic learning and clinical placements, allowing students to apply their knowledge in real healthcare environments while continuing their studies. In the fourth year, students complete additional placements lasting seven and six weeks, further developing their clinical skills. They also undertake an investigative project and study advanced topics such as sports and exercise medicine, ergonomics, professional issues, and developments in physiotherapy practice. Assessment throughout the program includes written examinations, practical tests in subjects like anatomy, and coursework assignments, particularly in the later years. This structure ensures students develop both strong theoretical knowledge and practical competence for professional physiotherapy practice.
