COURSE CURRICULUM

This integrated five-year Environmental Science and Engineering program combines the expertise of the School of Engineering and the School of Natural Sciences at Trinity College Dublin to deliver a research-inspired and outcome-based education. Students complete a four-year Bachelor of Science degree followed by an additional year leading to either a Master in Engineering (Studies), M.A.I. (St.), or a Masters in Applied Environmental Science. During the first three years, students follow a balanced and integrated curriculum covering both environmental science and engineering, building strong foundational knowledge and practical skills. After the third year, students specialise in either Environmental Engineering or Applied Environmental Science, while still sharing some modules and projects across both streams. In the fourth year, students have the opportunity to gain valuable international or industry experience through options such as the Erasmus program, UNITECH, or CLUSTER, or they may stay at Trinity to complete a Capstone Project and optional specialist modules. The fifth year allows students to complete advanced study in their chosen field. Teaching methods include lectures, laboratory practicals, and fieldwork, including international trips. Assessment is varied and includes formative and summative assessments, peer and group work, self-assessment, continuous assessment, and traditional exams, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience.
