COURSE CURRICULUM

The Trinity College Dublin Business Studies and German program is structured over four years to combine rigorous business education with advanced language learning and cultural immersion. In the first and second years, students typically complete 18–20 hours of lectures and tutorials weekly, supported by an equal amount of independent study. These years cover core business modules such as sustainable development, management, research methods, marketing, accounting, finance, operations management, organisational behaviour, innovation, and climate change, alongside language study and business German. Students also explore the society, institutions, culture, and economic environment of German-speaking regions, with optional modules in literature and film depending on the language track. The third year is spent abroad at a partner university or business school in a German-speaking country, where most teaching and examinations are conducted in German. Students may also complete a work placement of around two months to gain practical experience of the local business environment. In the fourth year, students undertake a Capstone research module focused on independent study and select advanced business modules such as international business, strategic management, finance, marketing, digital marketing, and leadership. Alongside this, they continue developing German language skills in writing, speaking, translation, and business communication, preparing them for international careers in business, management, or further academic study.
