COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Theoretical Physics program integrates both mathematics and physics, offering a comprehensive and rigorous study of the fundamental laws governing the universe. In the first and second years, students build strong foundations in key mathematical areas such as algebra, analysis, and mechanics, alongside physics topics including waves, optics, special relativity, astronomy, quantum physics, and nuclear physics. As the course progresses into the third year, students study more advanced subjects such as equations of mathematical physics, classical field theory, electrodynamics, quantum mechanics, statistical physics, electromagnetic interactions, chaos and complexity, and condensed matter physics. In the fourth year, the focus shifts to highly specialised topics including quantum field theory, differential geometry, general relativity, partial differential equations, condensed matter theory, and high energy physics, with options to explore areas such as cosmology, magnetism, superconductivity, quantum optics, energy science, and computational physics. Physics teaching is structured through lecture modules and project-based learning, with increasing emphasis on independent work in later years. A major component of the final year is the capstone research project, where students work closely with faculty members to produce original research. This structure ensures that students develop advanced analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills, preparing them for careers in research, academia, and a wide range of technical industries.
