COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Philosophy, Political Science, Economics and Sociology (PPES) program is a four-year interdisciplinary degree that introduces students to key approaches for understanding society. In the first year, students study all four subjects—Economics, Philosophy, Political Science, and Sociology—gaining a broad foundation in their core theories and real-world applications. This provides a strong basis for analysing social, political, and economic issues from multiple perspectives. In the second year, students begin to specialise by choosing to continue with one, two, or three of the subjects. They can take a wide range of modules such as Intermediate Economics, History of Philosophy, International Politics, and Introduction to Social Theory, along with optional Designated Open Modules and Trinity Electives to broaden their academic experience. In the third year, students further focus their studies on one or two of the four disciplines, while still having access to additional elective modules. By the fourth year, students may choose to specialise in one or two subjects and graduate with different degree pathways such as Single Honours, Major with Minor, or Joint Honours. A key feature of the final year is the Capstone project, which allows students to complete independent research on a topic of their choice, demonstrating their analytical, research, and critical thinking skills developed throughout the program.
