COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year, students study a European language alongside its related history and culture, as well as broader courses on the formation of Europe and the history of the Middle East and North Africa. This includes examination of political and religious developments and the historical relationships between Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa, with attention to Jewish and Islamic civilisations. In the second year, students continue their European language and begin studying a Middle Eastern language, while also taking additional modules in history, politics, and culture. These modules allow further exploration of the ancient world and deeper engagement with Jewish and Islamic societies and traditions. The third year is spent abroad, providing immersive language and cultural experience. In the final year, students may continue with both languages or focus on one, depending on their pathway. They also complete a Capstone project, an independent research dissertation developed with academic supervision. Optional modules in the final year allow specialisation in areas such as Middle Eastern and North African history, religion and society, Jewish and Islamic studies, ancient cultures, and the culture associated with the chosen European language. Assessment combines essays, presentations, projects, and other coursework with exams, ensuring strong language proficiency and research skills.
