COURSE CURRICULUM

B.A. Honours in Business, Economics and Social Studies (BESS) is a flexible interdisciplinary degree that allows students to study Business, Economics, Political Science, and Sociology while gradually specialising over time. In the first year, students take all four subjects to build a broad foundation in each discipline, gaining exposure to different approaches to understanding economic, political, and social systems. In the second year, students begin to specialise by selecting one, two, or three subjects, with options ranging from intermediate economics and international politics to introductory social theory, along with Trinity Electives and other complementary modules. In the third year, students choose their degree pathway and focus on one or two of the four disciplines, continuing to refine their academic direction while optionally taking additional open modules. The fourth year allows further specialisation, with students selecting one or two subjects and graduating with a Single Honours, Joint Honours, or Major with Minor degree classification. A key feature of the final year is the Capstone project, which involves independent research as a major academic component. The degree structure is weighted so that the third and fourth years account for 30% and 70% of the final award respectively, ensuring that advanced study and specialisation play a central role in the overall degree outcome and preparation for future careers or postgraduate study.
