COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Software Design with Cloud Native Computing is structured over three semesters and focuses on developing advanced skills in software development, cloud technologies, and modern system architecture. In the first semester, students build a strong foundation in programming through object-oriented programming, applied scripting languages, and research methods alongside professional practice. These modules develop core coding skills, problem-solving ability, and an understanding of ethical research and industry practices. The second semester advances into cloud-native and enterprise-level software development, introducing microservices architecture, which enables applications to be built as scalable and loosely coupled services. Students also study continuous build and delivery, focusing on automation, integration, and deployment processes essential for modern DevOps environments. An engineering team project encourages collaborative problem-solving on real-world scenarios, while ICT placement preparation supports readiness for industry experience. The third semester consists of either a work placement with professional practice or a dissertation, allowing students to apply their learning in an industrial setting or conduct independent research in a specialised area.
