COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Quantity Surveying is a Level 9 program designed to develop advanced technical, analytical, and professional skills for careers in the construction and built environment sectors. It builds on foundational knowledge of measurement, procurement, contract management, and cost control while also introducing strategic approaches to construction economics, risk management, and knowledge management. The program covers key areas such as contract implementation, procurement and tendering processes, cost planning, commercial management, and contract administration, with strong emphasis on public sector construction frameworks and industry regulations. Students develop practical skills in quantification, BIM-based measurement, tender documentation, and financial planning for construction projects. The program also explores land use planning, sustainable development, and the economic factors influencing the construction industry at both national and global levels. Risk and knowledge management modules prepare learners to handle uncertainty, compliance, and information flow within complex projects, while dispute management focuses on resolving contractual and commercial issues effectively. A major dissertation component allows students to conduct in-depth research using appropriate methodologies, data analysis, and critical evaluation techniques.
