COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Pharmaceutical and Chemical Analysis is structured to provide advanced theoretical knowledge and extensive practical training in modern analytical science for pharmaceutical and chemical applications. In Semester 1, students study Advanced Analytical Techniques, which introduces and develops both foundational and advanced instrumental methods such as spectroscopy, chromatography, radiochemical methods, thermal analysis, microscopy, and electrochemical techniques, supported by laboratory work. Bioanalytical Methods with Toxicology focuses on the detection and analysis of biological molecules and the study of drug toxicity, including toxicokinetics, toxicodynamics, and organ-specific and genetic toxicity. Standards and Regulation in the Pharmaceutical Laboratory explores quality assurance, quality control, laboratory management systems, and regulatory compliance. Research Methods and Professional Development Skills supports career development and research preparation. In Semester 2, students study Method Development for Pharmaceutical Chromatography, focusing on chromatographic techniques used in pharmaceutical analysis. Characterisation of Pharmaceutical Materials and Polymers develops expertise in material testing and polymer excipient analysis. Applied Spectroscopic Analysis covers advanced IR, MS, and NMR techniques for structural interpretation. Data Analysis for Analytical Scientists builds statistical and experimental design skills, while Industry Oriented Workshops provide real-world pharmaceutical industry insights. In Semester 3, students complete a 30-credit Research Project in an academic or industrial setting, developing independent research, problem-solving, and professional analytical skills.
