COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Nursing in Leadership and Quality Healthcare is structured to develop advanced clinical, research, leadership, and quality improvement capabilities in professional nursing practice. In Semester 1, students study Nursing in a Modern Health System, which encourages critical reflection on the evolving role of nursing within local and global healthcare contexts, including professional identity, organisational structures, and healthcare systems. Research Methods in Healthcare builds a strong foundation in research design, methodology, and the application of evidence to clinical practice. Clinical Leadership and Management develops skills in leading teams, managing change, and driving quality improvement within complex healthcare environments. In Semester 2, Quality Initiatives and Outcomes focuses on evaluating and improving healthcare service quality and patient outcomes. Professional, Legal and Ethical Issues in Nursing explores ethical, cultural, and legal dimensions of nursing practice, supporting reflective and responsible decision-making. Application of Evidence to the Healthcare Setting enables students to critically evaluate research and apply evidence to develop policies, procedures, protocols, or guidelines that enhance clinical practice. In Semester 3, the capstone module Generating Evidence for the Healthcare Setting allows students to undertake an in-depth research project, applying structured methodologies, addressing ethical considerations, and disseminating findings. Overall, the program prepares nurses for advanced roles in leadership, research, and quality-driven healthcare improvement.
