COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Data Analytics provides students with a strong combination of technical, analytical, and research skills needed to work with large and complex datasets across a variety of industries. In the first semester, students study core topics including data analytics, programming for data analytics, relational databases, statistics, and interpretation of data. These modules develop skills in data preparation, statistical modelling, SQL, database design, and programming techniques used to analyse and manipulate data effectively. Students also learn how to preprocess and explore data using advanced software tools to uncover valuable insights. In the second semester, the program advances into specialised topics such as advanced analytics, advanced databases, data visualisation, and research methods. Learners explore real-world business case studies, enterprise database programming, NoSQL technologies, distributed databases, and ethical issues related to data management. Strong emphasis is placed on communicating findings through effective visualisation and storytelling techniques that support business decision-making. The research methods module prepares students for independent academic and industry-focused research. In the final semester, students complete a substantial applied research project and dissertation in collaboration with an industry partner. This capstone project allows students to apply their analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills to real-world data analytics challenges while contributing meaningful research to the field.
