COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Applied Software Engineering provides students with a strong combination of technical, analytical, and professional skills through a focused set of industry-relevant modules. Students begin by developing core programming abilities through Object Oriented Programming while also learning the principles of Data Architecture and Database Systems for managing and organising data effectively. Modules in Computer Networks, Cloud and Computer Architecture, and Distributed Systems and Security give learners an understanding of modern computing infrastructures, networking technologies, cloud environments, and cybersecurity concepts. Web Technologies introduces the design and development of modern web applications, while Agile Design and Testing focuses on agile software development methods, software quality assurance, and testing practices used in professional environments. Students also study Continuous Build and Delivery, gaining experience in automation, deployment pipelines, and modern software delivery practices. Data Analysis and Visualisation equips learners with the skills to interpret and present complex datasets for informed decision-making. Alongside technical modules, the program places strong emphasis on professional development through Self Management and Teamwork, helping students build communication, collaboration, and organisational skills. The program concludes with a Group Project where students apply their technical and problem-solving abilities to develop practical software solutions in a collaborative team-based environment that reflects real-world industry practice.
