COURSE CURRICULUM

The MEng in Engineering Management is structured to combine strategic leadership, financial understanding, data-driven decision-making, and applied engineering knowledge to prepare graduates for senior roles in modern engineering industries. In the first semester, students develop core capabilities in strategic management and leadership, financial statement analysis, data visualisation, and research methods, focusing on how organisations create competitive advantage, interpret financial data, and use research and project management skills in professional contexts. In the second semester, students specialise through different streams, including civil engineering and digital construction, energy and environmental infrastructure, or Industry 4.0 and smart production. Across these pathways, modules explore areas such as resource economics, data analytics, innovation and project management, renewable energy systems, community energy development, intelligent design, industrial digitalisation, and quality management standards. These subjects connect engineering practice with economics, sustainability, and advanced technologies. The final semester consists of a major dissertation and a professional work placement, allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge to real industry challenges. Through independent research and hands-on professional experience, learners develop advanced problem-solving, analytical, and leadership skills. Overall, the program prepares graduates to manage complex engineering systems, lead multidisciplinary teams, and make informed strategic decisions in rapidly evolving technical and industrial environments.
