COURSE CURRICULUM

The Accounting MA program is structured to provide students with advanced professional accounting knowledge alongside strong analytical and research skills. In Semester 1, students study Financial Reporting and Corporate Governance, where they develop expertise in preparing and analysing financial statements while understanding ethical standards, accountability, and governance practices within organisations. Financial Strategy focuses on strategic financial decision-making, investment analysis, and corporate financial management, helping students understand how businesses plan and manage resources effectively. The Auditing module develops knowledge of audit procedures, risk assessment, internal controls, and professional standards required in the auditing profession. In Semester 2, students progress to Strategic Management Accounting, which emphasises performance management, budgeting, cost analysis, and strategic decision-making within organisations. The Taxation module provides understanding of tax systems, compliance, and tax planning relevant to individuals and businesses. Integrated Case Studies allow students to apply their accounting, finance, auditing, and taxation knowledge to complex business scenarios, strengthening practical problem-solving and professional judgement skills. Running throughout the academic year, the Accounting Research Project enables students to engage with accounting research literature and complete an in-depth research study that integrates both theoretical and practical learning from the program. Overall, the course prepares graduates for professional accounting careers while supporting progression toward recognised accounting qualifications and leadership roles in finance and business sectors.
