COURSE CURRICULUM

The program provides a comprehensive and structured legal education over four years, combining foundational theory with practical application and professional skills development. In the first year, students are introduced to core areas such as the Irish legal system, contract law, tort law, and legal technology, alongside essential legal research, writing, and IT skills, with options to study economics or languages. The second year deepens knowledge through subjects like constitutional law, European Union law, and revenue law, while also offering electives in areas such as environmental law, human rights, and family law, alongside opportunities to develop business and management understanding. In the third year, students focus on key professional subjects including criminal law and company law, supported by preparation for and completion of a 20-week work placement that provides real-world legal experience. The final year advances expertise in specialised areas such as land law, equity, employment law, and dispute resolution, while allowing students to explore electives like intellectual property, cybersecurity, and international law. A research project further strengthens analytical and investigative skills. Overall, the course equips graduates with strong legal knowledge, critical thinking, practical experience, and transferable skills for careers in law or related fields.
