COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) in Sports Science with Exercise Physiology is a four-year program that develops students’ understanding of human performance, health, and exercise through scientific and applied learning. In Year 1, students build a foundation in biology, physiology, biomechanics, anatomy, mathematics, and academic skills, alongside introductory coaching, psychology, and motor learning, helping them understand how the human body functions and adapts to sport and exercise. Year 2 expands into applied areas such as performance testing, sports nutrition, biomechanics, exercise physiology, coaching science, psychology, and performance analysis, with additional focus on special populations like female and youth athletes. Students also gain research and statistical skills essential for scientific study. In Year 3, learning becomes more specialised, covering strength and conditioning, clinical biomechanics, exercise prescription for clinical populations, applied sports nutrition, and sport and exercise physiology, supported by advanced research methods. A major professional work experience placement allows students to apply their knowledge in real-world sport or health settings. In Year 4, students undertake advanced and integrative study through modules in high-performance physiology, applied biomechanics, sport psychology, and data visualisation. A year-long research project and applied sport scientist capstone module develop independent research, problem-solving, and professional practice skills. Overall, the program produces highly skilled graduates prepared for careers in sports science, performance analysis, coaching, rehabilitation, and further postgraduate study.
