COURSE CURRICULUM

The Software Design with Digitalisation BSc (Hons) is a four-year program focused on developing strong software engineering skills combined with expertise in connected devices, IoT systems, data visualisation, cloud technologies, and digital transformation. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge in programming (Java), mathematics, web development, communication, game development, and digitalisation concepts involving connected devices. The second year deepens technical ability through object-oriented programming, agile methodologies, databases, Python development, wireless sensor networks, web applications, and system integration between devices and software interfaces. In the third year, learners progress to advanced software engineering, networks, web development, software design for IoT systems, visualisation techniques, and undertake a significant industry placement to gain real-world experience. Placement preparation supports professional readiness. The final year focuses on advanced topics such as machine learning, data mining, database architecture, security, distributed systems, and enterprise-level networks. Students also complete a major research-driven project that integrates their learning across the program. Additional modules explore management, organisational behaviour, ethics, and the engineer’s role in society, alongside advanced digitalisation strategies for smart systems. Overall, the program prepares graduates to design, build, and evaluate software systems for IoT and digital environments, with strong industry relevance in software development, data systems, and intelligent connected technologies.
