COURSE CURRICULUM

The Software Design in Artificial Intelligence for Cloud Computing BSc (Hons) is a four-year program that develops strong software engineering skills alongside specialist knowledge in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, data science and modern web technologies. In the first year, students build core foundations in programming (Java), mathematics, web development, digital literacy, connected devices, and introductory game and immersive technologies, alongside communication skills for university study. The second year deepens technical ability through object-oriented programming, databases, agile methodologies, Python development, web applications, cloud software design, data visualisation, and more advanced mathematical concepts including probability and graph theory. In the third year, learners focus on advanced cloud software development, networking, server-side and web application architecture, software engineering principles, and undertake a major industry placement to gain real-world experience. Placement preparation supports employability and professional readiness. The final year consolidates learning through an extensive research-based project and advanced modules in data mining, machine learning, distributed systems, databases, service-oriented architecture, cybersecurity, networks, and data visualisation. Students also study management, organisational behaviour, and professional ethics, including the engineer’s role in society. Overall, the program blends theoretical knowledge, practical coding skills, industry exposure, and emerging technologies to prepare graduates for careers in software development, AI, cloud engineering, and data-driven technology roles.
