COURSE CURRICULUM

Music Production and Technology is a practice-based honours degree focused on preparing students for professional careers in music creation, audio engineering, live performance, and media production. The program develops skills across studio recording, digital audio workstations, sound design, live sound reinforcement, and music composition, while also integrating video production, visual media, and interactive technologies. Early years focus on core foundations such as audio electronics, music theory, digital production, soundscape design, and studio techniques, alongside performance and creative development. As students progress, they engage in more advanced areas including interactive music systems, live sound engineering, event planning, audio post-production for film, and collaborative multimedia projects. The course strongly emphasises real-world experience through live events, industry placements, and collaborative work with external partners. Students also build entrepreneurial and professional skills through modules in marketing, finance, management, and portfolio development. In later years, learners specialise further in areas such as game audio, visual creation, interactive technology, legal and industry regulations, and advanced production techniques including mixing and mastering for commercial release. The final year culminates in a major capstone project where students produce a substantial creative or research-based work, often linked to industry practice. Overall, the program prepares graduates for diverse roles in the creative industries with strong technical, artistic, and professional capabilities.
