COURSE CURRICULUM

The Medical Technology program is structured over four years to build a strong foundation in science, engineering, and healthcare applications while developing practical and professional skills. In the first year, students study core subjects such as chemistry, cell biology, physics, mathematics, electronics, and computing, alongside introductory modules in design and professional development. The second year advances this knowledge with anatomy and physiology, biomechanics, clinical technology, medical instrumentation, safety principles, and healthcare ICT, while also introducing statistics and applied mathematics. In the third year, the focus shifts to real-world healthcare technologies, including diagnostic equipment, operating department systems, quality assurance, risk management, and healthcare information systems, supported by a significant industry placement that provides hands-on experience in clinical or industrial settings. Students also develop programming skills and gain exposure to modern healthcare technologies. In the final year, the program emphasizes specialised topics such as cybersecurity in healthcare, diagnostic imaging, radiotherapy, rehabilitation and renal technologies, decontamination practices, and hospital management. Students also complete a major research project and study project management and regulatory standards. Overall, the course combines theoretical learning, laboratory work, and industry experience to prepare graduates for careers in hospitals or the medical technology industry.
