COURSE CURRICULUM

The Forensic and Pharmaceutical Science program is structured over four years to provide a strong foundation in science alongside specialised knowledge in forensic and pharmaceutical fields. In Year 1, students study core subjects such as biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, and crime scene investigation, while gaining essential laboratory skills. Year 2 develops this foundation with modules in microbiology, biochemistry, analytical techniques, instrumental analysis, pharmaceutical science, and statistics, combining theory with hands-on laboratory experience and an introduction to quality control. In Year 3, students focus on more advanced topics including forensic toxicology, molecular biology, pharmaceutical technology, and quality assurance, before undertaking a significant work placement where they gain practical industry experience in sectors such as pharmaceuticals and medical devices. Year 4 builds on this expertise with advanced modules in forensic techniques, pharmaceutical technologies, biopharmaceuticals, and drug analysis, including specialised topics like drugs in sport and biomolecular forensics. Students also explore modern developments in pharmaceutical manufacturing and forensic evidence interpretation. The program concludes with a research project, allowing students to investigate a topic of interest independently. Overall, the course combines scientific theory, practical skills, and industry exposure to prepare graduates for diverse careers in forensic science, pharmaceuticals, and related scientific fields.
