COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Construction Management program develops students into professionals capable of managing modern construction projects with a strong balance of technical, financial, legal, and digital skills. The course begins with foundations in construction technology, measurement and costing, mathematics, communication, land surveying, and Building Information Modelling (BIM), helping students understand how buildings are designed, measured, and constructed. As the program progresses, learners study commercial construction methods, building services, project management, contract law, economics, and business management, gaining insight into how construction projects are planned, financed, and delivered. Strong emphasis is placed on BIM, digital tools, project planning software, and ICT applications to support data-driven decision-making in construction. Students also develop expertise in cost estimation, procurement, value engineering, and lifecycle costing, alongside practical surveying and engineering measurement skills. In later years, the course focuses on advanced topics such as energy management, BIM for MEP systems, construction health and safety, and commercial project cost control. A significant 24-week industry placement provides real-world experience in the construction sector, enhancing employability and professional competence. Final year studies include advanced BIM, digital surveying, data visualisation, and applied project management, along with a dissertation. Graduates are prepared for careers in construction management, quantity surveying, BIM coordination, project planning, and digital construction roles, supported by strong industry-relevant and technology-focused training.
